Pet

Pet is a desk lamp made from silicone, airbrushed acrylic paint, cotton spandex, steel and vinyl tubing, a computer monitor stand, an LED lightbulb, and horse leather. The frame is made from hard materials, with both real and fake skin enveloping it as a soft shell. I wanted to show the skeleton inside, so I slashed and burned sections of the skin that allow the metal and plastic to peek through. Due to how the tubing assembly is attached to the monitor stand, the lamp is even able to bend over when you press down on top of the neck, bringing the light source closer to your desired subject. Pet was an exercise in making something that appears discovered and born on its own, not created or contrived.
